Itchu-Bushi “Tatsumi no Shiki” Introduction & Performance
We received a subsidy from Showa Ikeda Memorial Foundation, and produced the video of the introduction and performance of “Tatsumi no Shiki ” by Miyako Itchu XII.
“Tatsumi no Shiki” was written by Miyako Itchu I. It has been carefully preserved by the Itchu bushi Shamisen School.
While depicting the beautiful scenery in Uji, which is located in the Tatsumi (southeast) of Kyoto, Miyako Itchu I who was the abbot of the Jodo Shinshu (Pure Land sect of Buddhism) hid the essence of Shinran’s teaching of altruism (absolute otherness) in the piece of music.
Please watch the video of the introduction at first.
